Travel sets were first introduced in 1948.  The Travel Box included a 2 1/2 ounce shave stick, a 3/4 ounce bottle of talcum and a 1 ounce bottle of after shave lotion, and originally sold for $1.25.  It was available from 1948 until 1956.   The talcum and after shave were in the "traditional" shape bottles but measured a mere 3.5 inches high by 1.25 inches in diameter. 

This Men's Travel Set included a tube of Brushless shaving lather, after shave (2 3/8 oz.) and talc (1 3/8 oz.).  This set also came with a tube of lather shave cream, which is blue instead of red.  Available from 1950 until 1958, the set sold for $1.50.

Between 1956 and 1963, the travel bottle underwent two changes as shown in the above photo.  On the center bottle the words "Old Spice" were moved beneath the ship although the shape of the bottle remained the same.  At some point during this period, the shoulders on the bottle became more rounded, as shown on the rightmost bottle.  Note that the cap at this time is still made of metal.  Although I only depict the talcum bottle here, the same graphics and bottle shapes apply to the after shave and cologne.  Note, however, that the rubber ring (white on the talcum bottles above) was blue on cologne and red on after shave, matching the color coding below.  (Thanks for the information and the photo, Charley!)

In 1962 the caps on the travel bottles changed from metal to plastic.  Cologne was blue, After Shave was red and the Talc was white.

In 1964, the first all plastic travel bottles were available.  This set shows After Shave and a Spray Deodorant.  Variations of packaging of this type travel bottle were made until 1979.

Of Canadian origin; plastic bottles probably dating from the late 1960s through the 1970s.

In 1974, the travel bottles had a compass rose on the top.  These bottles were still glass, but disappeared by 1977.   In 1973, a similar bottle was sold but included the volume on the front beneath the "After Shave Talcum."

Back to the traditional styling, this travel after shave container is all plastic, stands 4 inches tall and held 2-1/8 ounces. It was introduced in 1984.
