The table below will give a pretty good estimate of after shave and cologne bottle dates based on the volume of the container; unfortunately volumes on the outside of the bottles were not required by law until around 1962.   A certain volume size may have been sold for several years and therefore the bottle graphics, stopper  and material should also be considered in determining the age.  Imagine being the lucky Dad to receive the giant 18 ounce bottle sold for only a couple years in the late 60s!
